Chairman

Don Erickson is a charter member of the WHOA Board of Directors and currently serves as President.

Erickson was educated as a public health educator and is a former Mayor of Cheyenne.  Searching for ways to provide affordable housing, especially home ownership for low income families, is an objective that he finds to be a major challenge in a mostly rural State such as Wyoming.

Erickson and his wife Jacqui have five children and six grandchildren.

Vice Chairman

Doug Selby currently serves on the WHOA Board of Directors as Vice President.

Selby is the principal and sole proprietor of the office of Douglas A. Selby, Architect in Cheyenne.  He has 24 years experience as a licensed architect working in Wyoming and surrounding states.  He is experienced in working with multi-disciplinary design teams including landscape architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical consultants when required by individual project conditions.

Selby’s experience in the development of multi-family properties includes the $401,816 renovation of the Logan Manor Apartments in Cheyenne for the Cheyenne Housing Authority.  He was involved in WHOA’s Golden Meadows project and the Foxcrest project.  Selby’s latest multi-family project, Foxcrest II, was completed in 2005 and included 32 unit elderly housing apartments in Cheyenne adjacent to the original Foxcrest project, except developed for the Cheyenne Housing Authority.

Selby received his Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1979 from Kansas State University.

Secretary

Richard Slater has been a member of the WHOA board since 2002 and currently serves as the Secretary.

Slater has been in a private business/corporate law practice since 1989 and is a graduate of Cheyenne Central High School.

Slater graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.S. in History and Economics.  He is also a graduate of Creighton University School of Law.

Slater and his wife Mary have four children - Robbie, Chet, Mattie and Grace.

Treasurer

Darrell Berger

Darrell Berger is our newest member to the board. 

Berger grew up in Scottsbluff Nebraska and spent the next 25 years in Bozeman Montana before moving to Cheyenne.  Berger has over 30 years in the Bank/Commercial leading profession with 5 years as a business consultant for SBA helping start and expanding business.  Berger and his wife Carla have seven children.

Members

Maynard Richmeier has been a member of the WHOA board since 2002.

Richmeier attended seminary school in Wynona, Minnesota and was brought to Wyoming in 1965 by the United Sates Air Force.  He is a past president of the Home Builders Association, past member of the Chamber of Commerce and prior owner of Commercial Flooring.  He currently is a member of the Cheyenne Housing Authority Board and works on new home construction and remodels.

Richmeier and his wife Sharon have two children, Jennifer and Matthew.

David Pope is the Owner and President of David A. Pope, CPA.  His primary expertise is in the tax arena, but maintains a diverse practice in tax, technology and operations consulting.

Pope initially worked for the trust accounting department at Colorado National Bank and moved to Wyoming after completing two contracts as a consultant to the Resolution Trust Corporation in Denver.  In Wyoming he has worked for a tax attorney researching and preparing complex tax returns, preparing cases for presentment to the appeals office of the IRS and assisting clients in developing solid internal accounting systems.

Pope is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Wyoming Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Tax and Consulting sections of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and maintains his permit-to-practice through the Wyoming board of Certified Public Accountants.  He has also been named as alternate to the National Taxpayer Advocate Panel.  Pope graduated Magna Cum Laude from Regis University in Denver with a B.S. in Accounting.

Kalena McGuire has been a member of the WHOA Board of Directors since 2010.

McGuire works in the laboratory as a phlebotomy supervisor at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. She was born in Dearborn, Michigan, but was raised in Conifer, Colorado. She moved into the Village Creek units in 2006.

McGuire has two daughters- Dejakai and Jaya Maleah.

Brenda Mitchell has been a member of the WHOA board since 2008.

Mitchell is a lifelong Wyoming resident and is a retired postal worker.  She has been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels since 1992.  Mitchell is attending Laramie County Community College pursuing general studies.

Mitchell has two sons, Michael and Kenneth, and two grandchildren.
